The Michigan Round Dance Teachers Association (MRDTA)
A group of dance leaders dedicated to the development of round dancers and the nourishment of the art.
Round Dance
A form of synchronized ballroom that is danced by couples around the perimeter of a room. The dance moves are done to various rhythms such as Cha Cha, Rumba, Two Step, Foxtrot, Jive, Waltz, etc. All figures are predetermined and cued by the leader known as the Cuer.
MRDTA Purpose
- To promote the art of round dancing and the teaching of it.
- To encourage all Round Dance activities.
- To standardize those activities as much as possible an/or helpful.
- To elevate the standards, ethics and ideals of those engaged in teaching Round Dancing.
- To create harmony, integrity and goodwill among its members.
MRDTA Meetings
- Meetings are held the third Sunday of September, November, February, April, May.
- A centralized location for the meeting is determined by a majority vote.
- Each meeting has a business portion, the selection of the "Rounds of the Month" and dance workshops.
- A nominal dues amount is paid annually.
- Membership can be "Active", "Associate" or "Honorary".
